ECEAA Four Year Strategic Plan Brief

We, ECEAA Executive Board, are proud to present to our members ECEAA’s four-year Strategic Plan. The plan is a roadmap that points to areas where we will strive and collaborate to strategically position our profession and business objectives to adapt to the changing regulatory landscape, select and adopt best practices and remain relevant across Ethiopia and in the Continent in light of the soon to be ratified AfCFTA, African Continental Free Trade Area.

ECEAA Four Year Strategic Plan (2023-2026), endorsed by the ECEAA Executive Board, envisages to achieve the ten objectives of the Association as stipulated in its bylaws through member centric approach. The initiative to outlay the strategic plan was taken since the 1st week of November 2022, with careful assessment of ECEAA’s previous accomplishments and identification of gaps in fulfilling the association’s objectives vis-à-vis the dynamics in the current external environment.

As in any Professional Associations, ECEAA very existence and success largely depend on the active participation of its members promoting excellence, good governance and integrity in the industry ensuring to deliver a credible service with highest professional standard of care unto all such service is provided, while advocating for the rights of its members. To this end, the following three Pillars of ECEAA Functions provide the foundation of efforts to fulfil the objectives enshrined in its bylaws.

  1. Value and Ethics (ECEAA objectives under Article 5.1 & 5.2 of the bylaws)
  2. Image and Partnering Building (ECEAA objective under Article 5.3, 5.4, 5.5 & 5.9 of the bylaws)
  3. Advocacy (ECEAA objective under Article 5.6, 5.7, 5.8, & 5.10 of the bylaws)

Each of the three pillars of ECEAA functions shall be managed by a five-member subcommittee selected
among members of the association under the ECEAA Executive Board, namely:

  1. Value and Ethics Subcommittee
  2. Image and Partnering Building Subcommittee
  3. Advocacy Subcommittee

Each subcommittee shall be directed by the assigned ECEAA Executive Board Member. It may further createad-hoc committees, if so required, to enhance its operational capability and strengthen members participation. The subcommittee generally offers recommendations to the ECEAA Executive Board for decision on matters pertaining to the three pillars of ECEAA functions. The subcommittee specifically shall prepare short-term and annual plan in light of ECEAA strategic plan identifying the what, when,  how, where and by whom elements of the plan and present to ECEAA Executive Board for endorsement.

In this regard, the ECEAA Executive Board in its strategic plan preparation process has identified indicative focal areas, presented in a separate document, for each pillar of ECEAA functions. The subcommittee is responsible to conduct the planning process by reviewing, analysing and further updating and/or elaborating these focal areas into action-plans and actual implementation after approval by the ECEAA Board.



Advocacy

  1. Facilitate among its members the sharing of industry best practices, research and developments through the conduct of training and workshops.
  2. Motivate, enable and ensure members provide consultancy service with due diligence and highest professional standard of care.
  3. Create awareness among the members regarding ECEAA Code of Ethics and other relevant regulations.
  4. Strengthen the implementation of ECEAA Code of Ethics through its Professional Ethics Council; if & when members infringe the code, investigate and take corrective actions in accordance with ECEAA Code and other relevant applicable codes/regulations

Image and Partnering Building

  1. Restore the current distorted image and misperception towards the profession in the industry.
  2. Strengthen ECEAA’s membership, organizational and financial status and enhance its visibility and presence locally and globally.
  3. Deepen ECEAA’s relation with other professional associations, key industry players and stakeholders locally and globally.
  4. Provide the necessary professional and material support required in and by the sector during the times of national and global crisis &/or agenda.
  5. Become active member of FIDIC and GAMA (FIDIC Group of African Member Association); and strengthen the competitiveness of the members locally and
    across the continent.

Value and Ethics
